Red Bag & Biohazard Waste Disposal
Secure pickup and compliant disposal of blood-soaked materials, gloves, gowns, and other infectious waste.
What It Is
What Is Red Bag Waste?
Red bag waste — also called biohazardous or infectious waste — includes any non-sharp item that is saturated or dripping with blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM). Common examples include blood-soaked bandages, surgical drapes, gloves, gowns, and disposable medical devices.
Under Illinois regulations, this waste must be collected in clearly labeled, leak-proof red bags and transported by licensed haulers to approved treatment facilities. We supply the bags and coordinate every step.
Who Needs This
Who Generates Red Bag Waste?
Any facility where patient contact involves blood or body fluids will produce red bag waste:
- Surgery centers (ASCs) — high volumes of surgical drapes, sponges, and tubing
- Urgent care centers — wound care materials, IV supplies
- Primary care clinics — blood draw supplies, exam gloves
- Dental offices — gauze, cotton rolls, extraction materials
- Labs — specimen containers, test strips, collection tubes
